We are so thrilled so to announce the appointment of Josephine (Joey) Cuzzi as Executive Director of NECAT. Joey’s first day was Monday, January 4.
Joey has had an extensive career in public service. As the Communications Director at the Massachusetts Port Authority she managed public relations and marketing initiatives, advocating for policies and programs that balanced the needs of East Boston residents with the agency’s transportation agenda. In 2002, she redirected her expertise toward leading local nonprofits—first at the Piers Park Sailing Center in East Boston, a free, community boating program for children, and more recently as the Executive Director of the East Boston Y. Under her leadership, the Y’s early childhood education, afterschool, teen and active older adult initiatives flourished, widely recognized for their program quality and innovation. She instituted a scholarship program for children to attend Y overnight camp, and obtained private funding for the construction of an East Boston teaching kitchen and garden, used to instruct adults and children on cooking techniques and healthy eating habits. After leaving the branch in late 2014, she was retained by the Greater Boston Y as communications consultant for Child Development Programs.
At NECAT, Joey will be leading the organization through an exciting year of growth and development, with a focus on achieving even better outcomes for our Culinary Arts Job Training Program students. Please join us in welcoming Joey to the NECAT family.
